A few years ago I read The Hiding Place and in all honesty I really didn’t enjoy the book at the time. It was too wordy and detailed for me, and just a little too depressing. But, as per usual, this thanksgiving we went around in a circle and said what we’re thankful for from this past year we had. This past year was by far the hardest year of my life. I was hit with family issues, friend issues, and health issues so basically no matter where I went- I was followed by these struggles. While trying to think of what I was thankful for, this book came back to my mind, and this is why:

In the book, one of the main characters says she’s thankful for the diseased fleas that are biting and killing her and her loved ones as she speaks. Directly after, one of the other main characters describes how confused she is because she has no clue how or why she would be thankful for the very thing that was killing them. Later on, she found out that the fleas were keeping the guards from coming in and killing and torturing them. They managed to escape and help tons and tons of people. The thing that was killing them ended up being a blessing.

Moral of the story: I’m thankful for the burdens God put in my life this year, because without them, I wouldn’t be close to half the people I am today, and I wouldn’t be as strong as I am.

(Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I went on a family vacation for EasteršŸ˜„!) I want to just spend this post saying what I’m thankful for that the LORD has provided me with… I am thankful for a place of refuge, food and drinks, THE FACT HE SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON TO PAY THE PRICE WE SHOULD BE PAYING AND FOR FORGIVING US, family, A GOD WHO LOVES ME, friends, clothes, SOMEONE I CAN PRAY TO AND TALK TO/ SAYING THINGS I’D NEVER SAY TO ANYONE ELSE, talents and abilities, knowledge, MY BIBLE, my pets, my health, and much, much more. Did you see a pattern in that long sentence? I can’t even begin to think of where my list would end if I wrote down what I’m thankful for about the LORD! PLEASE write down what you are thankful for in the comments section- I want to see how many people I can get to comment! Also, at the end of your lists, answer me- He is risen, ( He is risen, indeed! )

Thank You

Remember September

I was scrolling through my feed on pinterest when I saw a pin written in very small font with a lot of information; I decided to read it. OneĀ of the stories touched my heart so much that I had to show you! Here it is:Today, after a 72 hour shift at the fire station, a woman ran up to me at the grocery store and gave me a hug. When I tensed up, she realized I didn’t recognize her. She let go with tears in her eyes and the most sincere smile and said,” On 9-11-2001, you carried me out of the World Trade Center.”
